Beloit man arrested in robbery at Janesville bar
JANESVILLE—Police have made an arrest in the assault and robbery of an elderly Janesville man at a bar early Monday morning.
David L. Dutcher, 38, of 1235 Central Ave., Beloit, was arrested at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rock County Jail on charges of robbery and misdemeanor battery, said Lt. Keith Lawver of the police department.
Dutcher was at the jail on a probation hold, Lawver said.
Police do not believe Dutcher and the victim, a 74-year-old bar customer, knew each other, Lawver said.
The man was attacked and his wallet stolen when he left the Rider's In Bar, 721 Center Ave., around 12:08 a.m. Monday, police reported earlier.
Another man asked the 74-year-old for money, he said he didn't have any, and the assailant then tackled him and took his wallet, police said.
The victim suffered scrapes but did not seek medical attention, police said.
