JANESVILLE—An elderly man was attacked and his wallet stolen while leaving a Janesville bar early Monday morning, according to a Janesville police news release.

The 74-year-old customer of Rider's In Bar, 721 Center Ave., was exiting the bar at about 12:08 a.m. when a man asked him for money. When he said he didn't have any and started to walk away, the robber tackled the man and took his wallet, according to the release.

The robber fled in a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck east on Riverside, said Sgt. Aaron Dammen.

Dammen said the Janesville man suffered some scrapes but did not seek medical attention.

He also said some people saw the robber leave but did not witness the attack.

The robber is described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, medium build, wearing a gray shirt and denim shorts.
