TOWN OF BELOIT—The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss improvements next year to the Highway 51/Cranston Road intersection in the town of Beloit.

The meeting will run from 5 to 7 p.m., with a brief presentation at 5:30, on Thursday, July 23, at the Beloit Town Hall, 2871 S. Afton Road. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display and DOT representatives will be available to discuss the project.

The project will turn Highway 51 into a four-lane divided roadway with a southbound left-turn lane. The road will have a 6-foot-wide shoulder along the west side of Highway 51 with a curb and gutter section along the east side. New traffic signals will be installed that will include protected left-turn phasing with a flashing yellow arrow.

The project begins about 400 feet north of the Highway 51/East Henderson Avenue intersection and ends about 450 feet north of the Highway 51/East Weirick Avenue intersection.
