TOWN OF BELOIT—Authorities are investigating a shooting outside a town of Beloit home Sunday night that left a 23-year-old Beloit man with a gunshot wound to the ankle.

Police were called just before 10 p.m. to 1978 Harrison Ave., where a subject had walked up to the house and shot several times at people outside the house, said Town of Beloit Police Sgt. Laura Palmer in an interview with WCLO Radio. Several adults and five to six children were outside.

It's possible a small child was grazed by a bullet fragment, she said.

Steve Kelsey was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital for a single gunshot wound to the ankle, according to authorities.

Palmer said the shooting could have been gang-related, and the Rock County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation.

Police secured a search warrant for the home.
