Theodore “Ted” Waech, age 74, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Grand Village. Ted was born in 1941, to Theodore C. and Martha Waech in Chicago, IL, where he also grew up and attended school. He graduated from University of Illinois and received his PhD. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ted was united in marriage to Donna J. Krueger on June 24, 1967, and they made their home in Madison, WI. A year later, Ted did his Post Doctorial work at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They moved to DePere, WI, where he taught at St. Norbert College prior to moving to Milwaukee, WI, where he taught at Concordia College. Ted and Donna moved to Janesville, WI, where Ted worked for 20 years for the Beloit Corporation. He, then, taught at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County in Janesville. In 2005, Ted and Donna made Grand Rapids, MN, their home. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and served as a volunteer at the front desk at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.
Ted is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna; two children, Rebecca (Erik) Paulson and Nathan Waech; four grandchildren: Madison and Maisy Waech, along with their mother, Sarah, and J.T. and Jakob Paulson; one brother, Victor (Diana) Waech. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Memorials are preferred.
Visitation will be Friday, July 3rd from 10 until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service at the COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Grand Rapids, MN. Rev. Kimbrel Johnson will officiate.
