December 12, 1968 - June 28, 2015

Kimberly Sue Sagen, age 46, “The Love of Our Life,” passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her close caring family on Sunday evening June 28th, 2015. She was born on Dec. 12th, 1968, in Janesville, the youngest of eight siblings to loving and devoted parents, Merlin and Helen (Hauri) Sagen. Together our family learning and accepting Kimberly being born with Down’s syndrome enlightened us, young and old, to be patient kind and accepting of those who are “different.” She would insist, “I AM NOT A DOWN’S, I AM AN UP’S.” Kim was always eager to make friends freely, sharing her joy and unconditional love. She had a simple yet profound ability to help us all see the truly important things in life. Her love, laughter, and spontaneous singing will be cherished memories. Kim loved to celebrate her birthday and everyone else’s. She was always “the life of the party.” The opening of presents brought smiles, hugs and tears of happiness because she expressed each gift as “My Favorite.” These things will always remind us of our `Kimmer Sue`(dash #4); Coca Cola Classic, Big Mac n French fry, Hershey Bar, Shrimp, Oyster stew, Rice pudding, and the hugest collection of warm fuzzy socks imaginable. Kim had a great ability to entertain herself and us with her trampoline acrobatic skills, swimming, cheerleading, cooking skills (including ketchup ON EVERYTHING), extended table prayers, riding her three-wheeled bike, making a game of picking up sticks with the golf-cart, and dancing up a storm. With her love for country music, Garth Brooks being her favorite entertainer, she would sing along adding about 12 more verses of her own, “A REAL HOOT,” as Dad would say. Kim attended schools in the Janesville area as well as St. Coletta.

Kim is survived by her mother, Helen; seven siblings: SanDee (Steve) Knipprath of Naples, FL, Cathie (Dick) Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Lou Allington of Hastings, MN, David Sagen of Janesville, Rick Sagen of Janesville, JoDee Sagen of Naples, FL, and Sheli “Cricket” (Matt) Carroll of Janesville; nieces and nephews: Christy (Cory) Campbell, Robin (Loren) Tomasi, Andrew (Amber) Anderson, Stacey Smith (Cory), Tim (Kelly) Allington, Jenny (Adam) Meyers, Jeremy Allington (Monique), Michael Allington (Kim), Corianna Sagen (Ryan), Lorien Sagen (Staci), Samantha Sagen, Logan, Lydia, and Lenae Carroll; 15 great nieces and nephews; special Aunts and Uncles; many Cousins; and all her “CELEBRITY” BOYFRIENDS. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Merlin.

A Private Family Memorial Gathering will be held at her Parents Peaceful Acres Farm. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville, is assisting the family. For on-line condolences and registry: www.schneiderfuneraldirectors.com

A SPECIAL THANKS to her Uncle Harry (Special Brandon) and Uncle Alfred (Aunt Jan), and SPECIAL FRIENDS, Phyllis Goehl and Christine Welcenbach. Her Family is very grateful to the entire medical staff at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital, Pastor John, the ED staff, Hospitalists, ICU nurses, the Respiratory therapists, Occupational therapists, House Keeping team, and last but not least, all 4th floor personnel. They all showed great skills and loving care throughout Kimberly’s recent stay. And THANKS to the Hospital “Prairie Café” Staff, for providing wonderful Food and Support to our Family.

Even though “Kim's Journey” back home with her Family was brief, the Hospice care provided by Home Health United was compassionate and supportive. We are most Thankful for the time we have been given with Kim, for the many Friends who have shared her love, and especially for our Dear Mom and Dad.

“KIMBERLY SUE WAS LOVED BY MANY AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL.”

“REMEMBRANCE IS THE SWEETEST THING THAT IN A GARDEN GROWS.
