Fontana man found dead near Geneva Lake bridge
FONTANA--The Fontana Police Department is investigating the death of 52-year-old man whose body was found Monday morning.
A village maintenance worker found the body of Steve C. Dellinger of Glenview, Illinois, at 7:45 a.m., Steve Olson, police chief, said.
The body was lying on concrete near the shoreline below the Fontana Boulevard bridge near The Abbey Marina, Olson said. The bridge goes over the canal stretching from Abbey Harbor to Geneva Lake.
Dellinger was walking to his family's Fontana home from a lakefront business he left at about 11 p.m. Sunday, Olson said.
Police do not suspect foul play based on the investigation thus far.
Dellinger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy was scheduled to be completed Tuesday. Olson had not heard of any results as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Police have not determined if Dellinger fell over the bridge or crossed a fenced area and fell down an embankment.
Dellinger's family was notified Monday afternoon.
