70 mph speed limit signs set for Tuesday installation in Rock County
June 16, 2015
On Tuesday, Rock County Highway Department employees will be putting up new 70 mph signs on part of the Interstate.
In May, Gov. Scott Walker signed the 70 mph speed limit into law, bringing Wisconsin's top highway speed up to the same level as surrounding states.
The sections of Interstate 90/39 going through Rock County will be 70 mph, as will I-43 from Beloit to Waukesha County.
Not all sections of the Interstate will be 70 mph, only stretches in the rural areas.
The Department of Transportation reminded drivers that the higher speed limit would not take effect until the signs are posted.
