ELKHORN—The Elkhorn Fire Department is investigating a fire that destroyed a machine shed Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:35 p.m. to W3431 Highway 11 where flames “fully engulfed” the shed and created “thick black smoke,” Elkhorn Fire Chief Rod Smith said.
The cause and origin of the fire have not been determined. The fire is not suspicious, he said.
No animals or people were injured.
Inside the shed were vehicles and tractors, Smith said.
A damage estimate was not available.
Firefighters from seven departments were on scene for about 1.5 hours. Traffic was stopped along the stretch of Highway 11 while firefighters battled the blaze.
