Update: Two women suffer minor injuries in crash
EVANSVILLE—Two women suffered minor injuries Saturday in an accident that closed both lanes on Highway 14 for more than an hour, a Rock County Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
Sara St. Gelais, 75, was driving east on Highway 14 near Evansville when a truck pulling a pontoon in front of her slowed to turn north onto Weary Road. Gelais was then rear-ended by a truck driven by Michael Johnson, 20, and pushed into the leading truck's trailer, the sergeant said.
Arlene Muska, 78, was a passenger in Gelais' vehicle. Both women are from Beloit. They were transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center for non life-threatening injuries, he said.
No additional information was available on the condition of the women.
Johnson was cited for following too close, the sergeant said.
The crash was reported at 3:25 p.m., a Rock County Communications supervisor said. The Highway 14 lanes reopened at 5:02 p.m., according to a sheriff's office news release.
