Accident closes Highway 11 west of Janesville

Highway 11 was shut down for hours Monday night because of an accident that occurred between Janesville and Footville, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The accident, reported at 6:17 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 11 and County H, involved a semitrailer truck and another vehicle, according to emergency communications monitored by The Gazette.
The DOT initially said the closure would last about an hour. It sent a notice at 9:36 p.m. that the closure would continue for another two hours.
The designated detour is as follows: Westbound traffic takes Kessler Road south to Hanover Road, then west on Hanover to County H and north on H to 11.
Eastbound traffic should take County H south to Hanover Road, then east on Hanover Road and north on Kessler Road to Highway 11.
