Victims identified in one-car crash in Lyons
LYONS TOWNSHIP—The driver and passenger involved in a deadly one-car crash in the town of Lyons Saturday night were identified by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
Diedra Dawley, 34, of Genoa City, was hospitalized with serious injuries and Sarah Enders, 22, from the village of Bloomfield, was killed in the crash that happened on Townline Road, just east of U.S. Highway 12 in the town of Lyons about 6:03 p.m. Saturday, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
Deputies responding to the scene of the accident found a maroon 1995 Honda Accord had lost control and struck a tree.
Dawley, the driver of the car, was transported by Flight for Life to a nearby trauma center. Enders, the only passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office Crash Unit and the Walworth County Investigations Division.
