Janis R. Atkins, age 87, of Janesville, died on April 11, 2015, at her home. She was born in Eau Claire, WI, on Feb. 7, 1928, the daughter of Victor Olaf and Pearl (Johnson) Sherman. Janis married Gerald Atkins, on June 24, 1950, in Eau Claire, WI, and he preceded her in death in 1987. She had worked for many years at the School for the Visually Handicapped, and enjoyed playing in the Senior Center Band.
Janis is survived by her three daughters: Ann Patrice Chandler, Andrea Lynn Atkins, both of Janesville, Beverley Jean (James) Hardee of Florida; three grandchildren: Kathryn (Bill) Wells, Charles Chandler, and Dillon Hardee; a sister, Suzanne Smemo of Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
