Man accused of stealing $10,000 from Elkhorn car dealer
ELKHORN—A northern Illinois man is charged with stealing nearly $10,000 from his employer, Kunes Country Chrysler in Elkhorn.
Miguel A. Aceves, 44, of Johnsburg, Illinois, is charged with theft.
Aceves took $9,900 from five vehicle sales between December and March, according to a criminal complaint.
Aceves told the company's finance director, Bill Myers, on March 2 that he took $4,100 because he "needed the money." Myers looked into the company's finance records and found Aceves took $9,900. Aceves admitted March 3 to Myers to taking nearly $10,000, the complaint states.
Aceves later told Elkhorn police Detective Thomas Bushey that he took the money because he needed to pay bills and gambled away the first $4,000.
Aceves is free on a $10,000 signature bond. He will appear in court next at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the Walworth County Judicial Center.
