One-car crash in Lyons kills Spring Prairie man

LYONS TOWNSHIP-- Earl J. Finke, 25, of the town of Spring Prairie, died this morning in a one-vehicle crash on South Road, about one half mile north of Wisconsin Highway 50 in the town of Lyons, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Walworth County deputies arrived at the scene of the accident at 2:18 a.m. Thursday, and found a gray 2005 Ford F250 pickup truck crashed into a tree. Finke, the driver and sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the release, the initial investigation indicated Finke was driving southbound on South Road, and entered the curves north of Highway 59 when he lost control of his pickup, slid sideways off the east side of the road and struck a tree. Finke was not wearing a seatbelt.

Lyons Fire and Rescue, Paratech Ambulance, and the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office were also at the scene of the accident.
 
The accident remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Crash Investigation Unit.
