State releasing sex offender to Janesville rehab center

JANESVILLE—The Department of Corrections is releasing a man convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 2002 to a privately-owned rehabilitation center, officials announced Monday.

Derek A. Tabbert, 31, is being placed at the Rock Valley Community Program facility, 203 W. Sunny Lane, Janesville, on Tuesday, according to the release.

Tabbert was convicted of fourth-degree sexual assault in 2001, according to the release. He was convicted of first- and second-degree sexual assault of a child in 2002.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Community Corrections (DCC), Derek A Tabbert, 31, will be released to the Rock Valley Community Program, 203 W. Sunny Lane, Janesville, WI on March 10, 2015.

Tabbert was convicted of Fourth Degree Sexual Assault on October 5, 2001, First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child on April 9, 2002, and Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child on April 9, 2002.

While placed at the Rock Valley Community Programs, conditions of Tabbert's supervision includes, but are not limited to: No unapproved activities in the community without prior approval of the DCC Supervising Agent; No contact with minors; No patronizing taverns, bars or liquor stores; No contact with victims; Not to consume alcohol or drugs; Comply with standard sex offender rules; and Cooperate with GPS monitoring.
