Girls state basketball: Whitewater advances; Craig falls short

The Whitewater girls basketball team is headed to the WIAA state tournament after beating Dodgeville 57-54 on Saturday. It is the Whippets' first state berth. They are scheduled to play at 9:05 a.m. Friday at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Janesville Craig, meanwhile, will not be making its first state appearance after it let a seven-point lead after three quarters slip away in the fourth. The Cougars lost to Middleton, 66-57. Al Hughes finished her stellar high school career with a 24-point performance.
