Herbert Lee Hermanson, age 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Janesville. He was born on Sept. 15, 1938, in Reedsburg ,WI, the son of Harlan and Ethel (Milbrandt) Hermanson. He served overseas in Thailand, in the United States Army from Dec. 7, 1961, until Dec. 6, 1963, earning the Good Conduct Medal and, then, served in the United States Air Force Reserves until Aug. 1964. Herb married Katherine Jackson on June 4, 1965, in St. Peters Church, Janesville. He worked for General Motors in Janesville, for 42 years before retiring. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Herb enjoyed fishing, going to Arizona, breakfast with friends and family, golfing and was a member of the Evansville Golf course for several years.
Herb is survived by his wife, Katherine of Evansville; his children: Robin (Andy) Anderson, James (Shar) Hermanson, of Evansville, Julie (Mark) Flood of Albany; his grandchildren: Jason and Jeremy Helgeson, Elyssa and Sydney Hermanson, Ariel, Austin, Jacob, Marqes and Joseph Flood; great-grandchildren: Braylen Schultz and Layla Schwartz; his siblings: Marcella (James) Cochrane of Janesville, Karen (Rex) Blum of Oregon, Kathleen (Jerry) Polish of Hayward, Ann Jolean (Jerry) Jorgensen, Dean (Julie) Hermanson of Evansville; a sister-in-law, Pat Hermanson of Stoughton; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Hermanson; and a nephew, Greg Hermanson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, Evansville, with Reverend David Lieske officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, with Military Rites by V.F.W. Post 6905, Evansville. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the FUNERAL HOME.
