July 12, 1930 - January 4, 2015

Roger J. Olson, age 84, officially retired from farming on Jan. 4, 2015. Roger was born July 12, 1930, to John S. and Inga (Hanson) Olson in Edgerton, WI. He was the youngest of four boys. Roger graduated from Edgerton High School in 1948, and began his life-long career as a dairy farmer. He met the love of his life, Nancy (Dahlman) and they married June 12, 1954. Roger and Nancy had three children: Kim, Gary, and Todd. Gary and Todd, later, joined Roger and Nancy in operating the family farm in Albion. Roger served on the Albion Creamery board and as a board member and President of the Dane County Holstein Breeders. For 34 years, Roger served the Town of Albion, as town clerk, planning commission member and chairman. Through Roger's leadership the town's sewer system was installed and the Albion park pavilion was built. Roger was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed following the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. But Roger's biggest joy was in being able to have his family near and in watching his children and grandchildren show cattle at various shows.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy; his three children: Kim, Gary, and Todd (Laura) Olson, all of Edgerton; six grandchildren: Tyler, Kristin, Kelsey, Jocelyn (Ben Sarbacker), Jordan and Jenna; and the apple of his eye, great-granddaughter Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers: Donald, Walton ("Bud") and Rollin; and sisters-in-law, Eunice and Bernice.

Roger's family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, aides, respiratory, occupational and physical therapists at UW Hospital for their compassion and care during Roger's stay. A special thank-you to Sister Pam for her friendship and support.
