Barbara A. Brown, age 79, of Janesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 06, 2015, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center. She was born in Janesville, on Nov. 14, 1935, the daughter of Walter “Lippy” and Marie (Marty) LaVeen. Barb married Richard Brown on April 26, 1974. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2003. She was employed as a CNA for Beloit Memorial Hospital and Caravilla. Barb loved to play Bingo and many card games including Bridge, Euchre and Sheepshead as well as visiting the casinos. She was also an accomplished baker, cook and seamstress. She spent a lot of time at the Janesville Senior Center, where she was known for always bringing in her baked goods. She was member of the Women of the Moose and assisted with their lunches. Barb was even recognized in the Taste of Home magazine for her cooking talents. She enjoyed her social life and was known to frequent WalMart so she could visit with people.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Cathy “Kate” (Len) Sawicki of Fort Meyers, FL, Dianne McGibbon of Sheboygan Falls, Tina (Jeff) Russell, Terri (Dave) Hansen and Brenda Flint, all of Janesville; two step-children, Linda Heinsohn of Waterford, and Les Brown of Edgerton; 14 grandchildren: Heather Hansen, Calista Thompson, Staci Jo Dehnert, Joe and David Sagaitis, Jeremiah Balas, Nicole and Jonathon McGibbon, Cindy and Christina Sagaitis, Kadee Russell, Lisa (Josh) Wedel, Billie Jo (Nick) Jewell, and Jessika Flint; 12 great grandchildren: Kendra, Skyla, Livie Lu, Bruce, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Trase, Lily, Kalli, Kaitlyn, Jaxton, and Kinzie; a brother, James LaVeen; and a sister, Elsie (Bud) Spade, both of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Brown; former husband, Eugene Sagaitis; son, Eugene “Joe” Sagaitis; and two brothers, Robert and Wallace LaVeen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY. Entombment will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. with a Women of the Moose service at 6:30 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and, again, on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Barb's friends at the Janesville Senior Center, the Women of the Moose and Dr. Shikhani and Amanda Johnson from Mercy Oncology for the loving care given to Barb.
