Badger grad at top of her game
Lana Wieseman continues to compile impressive statistics, and this could be the season that her hard work and those personal accomplishments finally translate into the most important number – more victories for her team.
The 6-foot-1 junior and 2012 Badger High School graduate was averaging a team-leading 22.2 points per game, which topped the Midwest Conference, as the Beloit College women's basketball team got off to a 4-5 start.
That record may not sound great, but it's a vast improvement considering the Buccaneers finished 4-19 and 7-16, respectively, during her first two years.
Wieseman played three varsity seasons for coach David Jooss at Badger, receiving second team All-Southern Lakes Conference honors as a sophomore and making the first team her final two years, adding Player of the Year laurels while averaging 18.5 ppg in helping the Badgers to the league title as a senior.
She reached those heights while playing forward and center, where she has spent most of her time since joining the Bucs. However, opponents must now worry about Wieseman's increasing versatility.
