Delavan woman accused of stealing more than $50,000 from employer
ELKHORN—A Delavan woman is accused of stealing more than $50,000 from her employer Elkhorn Collision Center.
Dawn R. Kuehni, 44, is charged with four felony counts of theft from a business setting and misdemeanor theft.
Kuehni, 708 Rickords St., stole the money between 2010 and 2014, business owner William Ghiselli told Elkhorn police officers in January, according to the criminal complaint.
Kuehni has worked on and off for the auto body and repair shop since 1997. In 2011 she began managing the business' finances, the complaint states.
Ghiselli told police he noticed no deposits had been made since May 2013.
The complaint states Ghiselli and another employee reviewed financial records and found unaccounted money was in excess of:
— $8,000 in 2011
— $14,000 in 2012
— $20,000 in 2013
— $1,800 in 2014
Kuehni admitted to “fudging the books” to make it appear her father paid a deductible for work on his car, according to the complaint. She also told an Elkhorn detective the amount of money taken was about $7,000 and the first time was in late 2012.
