Illinois man killed in Friday night crash near Darien
DARIEN--An Illinois man was killed after a one-car rollover crash near the town of Darien on Friday night.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, Norbert J. Gravel, 67, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:53 p.m. by the Walworth County Coroner's Office, according to a written release by the sheriff's office.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a crash on Highway 14 at Christie Road in the town of Darien about 10:53 p.m. Friday.
Initial investigation revealed Gravel was traveling south on Highway 14 in a 2008 Jeep Patriot when he crossed the center line, according to the written release.
Gravel then proceeded into the northbound lane before his vehicle entered the ditch and overturned, according to the release.
There were no indications of braking or evasive driving before the crash, according to the release. Gravel was trapped in the vehicle, and responding deputies found no signs of life, according to the release.
Autopsy results are pending.
