Illinois man dies in rollover accident in Darien
DARIEN TOWNSHIP—A Crystal Lake, Illinois, man was killed Friday night in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 14 in the town of Darien, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
Norbert J. Gravel, Jr., 67, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Coroner's Office.
Walworth County Sheriff's deputies responded at about 10:53 p.m. Friday to a call of a one-car rollover accident along U.S. 14 at Christie Road in the town of Darien.
Deputies found Gravel trapped inside a 2008 Jeep Patriot, with no signs of life, and extricated him from the vehicle.
According to the release, an initial investigation revealed Gravel was traveling southbound on U.S. 14 when, for unknown reasons his car moved left of center and crossed over the center line. Gravel proceeded into the northbound lanes before heading toward the side of the road and overturned in a ditch. According to the release, there were no indications of braking or evasive driving prior to the rollover.
An autopsy is being performed Sunday to determine the exact cause of the crash.
