Gary Phillip Purdy, age 58, passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born in Janesville, on June 29, 1956, the son of Darrel and Joan (Pribble) Purdy. He attended Parker High School and enjoyed both racing and attending stock car races, as well as hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Debra Fosberg Purdy; two sons, Nickolis and Jesse Purdy, both of Afton; step son, Sherman Riddle of Janesville; grandson, Devin Nyhus of Janesville, with whom he shared a very special bond; his parents, Darrel and Joan Purdy of Janesville; siblings: Mark (Helen) Purdy of Arkansas, Darin (Patty) Purdy of Juda, and Diana Brown of Janesville; mother-in-law, Gladis Heelein of Elkhorn; several nieces, nephews, many sisters and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Purdy; stepson, Edward Riddle; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Purdy and Mr. and Mrs. Slater Pribble; one aunt; nine uncles; and dear fishing buddy, Frank Heelein.
