Beloit police investigate Saturday night shooting

BELOIT--Beloit police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday night near the intersection of Bluff and Middle streets.

Thomas Freese, 27, was shot in the head, according to a news release from the Beloit Police Department.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, before being transported to UW Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries. A condition report on Freese was  not available.

Beloit police said officers arrived on the scene around 9:40 p.m., the news release said. They determined that the incident occurred a short distance from the road in the 200 block of Middle Street.

Beloit evidence technicians and detectives investigated throughout the night, and the investigation is ongoing, the release indicated. No arrests have been made.
