I've seen some recent political ads saying how much better or worse Wisconsin's economy is since 2010. I wanted to see how we compare with neighboring Minnesota. Gov. Mark Dayton of Minnesota has been cooperative with President Barack Obama, while Gov. Scott Walker has been resistant.

Minnesota is doing much better than Wisconsin. Its annual per capita income is more than $4,500 higher than Wisconsin. Minnesota's unemployment rate was 4.5 percent vs. Wisconsin's 5.8 percent in July.

Wisconsin might be doing a little better since 2010 but could have done much better by just going with the national flow. I don't think Minnesota's better performance is a coincidence.
