UFO sighting on Delavan Lake?

By Dan Plutchak ( Contact )   July 18, 2010 - 9:28 p.m.

At least one resident along Delavan Lake reported seeing a large, orange ball hovering over Delavan Lake Saturday, the second such sighting this month. A posting on The Vike Factor: Into the paranormal blog describes the sighting:

"... at Lake Delavan tonight and just had another sighting of orange ball. The ball came over the east side of the lake, headed toward us (we're on the west side of lake) hung there for a while, and then seemed to fade out. My family also saw it on the 4th of July weekend and can't stop talking about it."

The description is similar to another post on the blog, which describes seven orange objects spotted above Naperville, Ill., that same evening.

The post reads: "Hello, my husband and I were driving home on 75th street in Naperville, IL at about 9:30 p.m. on July 17th when we saw 6 flying/floating orange colored objects. They were round, floating gracefully in a vertical line. They were beautiful.

As we pulled over to watch this, a 7th one was flying quickly behind and caught up to the other 6. Then the lights started floating upward and started to diminish one by one, almost like a candle burning out and then were gone. There were several other cars pulled over on the side of the road to witness this strange event."

Brian Vike, who runs the blog, reports similar sightings over Rochelle, Ill., and into Ohio.

Update, 07/19/2010, 9:20 a.m. I caller from Edgerton reported seeing a similar orange ball in the sky over the west side of Edgerton about 10 p.m. Saturday. He reported that it was moving slowly, about the speed that an ultra-light would move, and the light was steady. He estimated it was about 500 to 700 feet in the air, and moving toward the east.

You are seeing Sky Lanterns. They come in alot of colors including Orange. They float until the candle burns out. The flame providing the lift explains the "blinking nav light" Some see.
You can get 10 for $25.00 at Amazon.com. Or about 50 other places.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but there are no spaceships other than our own. We have been searching by sight and sound for years and have seen nothing and heard not even a blip in the vast Cosmos.

Also, if you are searching the skies for a spaceship look for one that has no Navigational lights. You will not find those on a ship that has just blasted through our atmosphere. Working anyway.....

During and after the Lauderdale Lakes fireworks on July 3rd, a group of us saw at least four orange lights pass almost directly overhead. They moved slowly along a straight line course from SSW to NNE, separated in distance by a mile or so. At least two of the aircraft continued along that course, their orange lights remaining visible from behind but one of the aircraft or its orange light disappeared while it was overhead. My best guess of our closest distance from the aircraft would be about 1,000 feet. Even at that close proximity, none of us was able to see the outline of a fuselage or hear any sounds. None of the aircraft displayed any of the standard aircraft navigation lights, just a single omnidirectional orange light that appeared to flicker like a flame. My impression? Clever hi-tech pranksters taking advantage of a captive audience of fireworks fans.
