10 reasons the Obamas should have vacationed in Lake Geneva

I have to admit I'm feeling jilted, knowing that President Barack Obama and his family are spending their summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

Since the Chicago native was first elected to the White House, I naively assumed the first family's choice of vacation spots was a no-brainer.

Ask yourself, ever since the great Chicago fire, where have the city's elite gone to get away? Lake Geneva, Wis., of course.

But alas, there are no signs of our friends from Hyde Park here this year, however, we do have three more tries.

So, in an effort to entice the Summer White House to Walworth County, here are my top ten reason's the Obamas should spend their summer vacation here:

1) No hurricanes to delay the trip.

2) Keep negotiating skills sharp by mediating feuds among Lake Geneva politicians.

3) Could have entered an aircraft carrier in the Venetian Festival boat parade -- a shoo-in winner.

4) Reduce the deficit by taking the Metra Pacific Northwest as far as Harvard on the weekend $5 pass. Sasha and Malia ride free.

5) Unlike New Englanders, we've hosted visitors from Illinois for generations.

6) Can re-open Hillmoor Golf Course during their stay without worrying about hitting into other golfers.

7) Summer home rentals on the Geneva lakefront are a steal compared to Martha's Vineyard.

8) Can catch up on the old days at Chicago Alderman Richard Mell's Lake Geneva summer home.

9) Motorcade would be allowed to turn left from Wrigley Drive onto Broad Street in front of the Riviera.

10) Receive the daily national security briefing via the mail boat.
