I would say still do the comparisons and then also understand the reasons for differences. I didn't like his comment "Ignorance is bliss." And so what if your stats are different and there are reasons? You still need to compare. Also, a while back he was confused about how to compare wages and salary ranges to the public sector. Well, easy, you compare to other municipalities and then adjust for differences, I.e., cost of living, etc. Companies and businesses do this all the time. It's not rocket science. Just takes some digging.
