Police: 911 is still the go-to number for emergencies

WHITEWATER — No matter what friends say on Facebook, the Whitewater Police Department wants to make sure everyone knows to dial 911 in an emergency.
Posts on social media sites have been directing people to call 112 if they want to reach law enforcement faster, according to a news release from the police department.
Dialing 112 is the right way to reach emergency services—if you live in Europe, authorities said.
If you're calling for help anywhere in the United States or Canada, though, 911 is still the only emergency number to dial, according to the release.
