Update: The Delavan Fire Department reports they have cleared from the scene. WE Energies is still finishing up.

DELAVAN -- Emergency crews responded to downtown Delavan about 7:40 a.m. for reports of a gas main break, according to the Delavan Police Department Facebook page.

WE Energies, along with Delavan police, The Delavan Department and the Town of Delavan Fire Department have responded.

Traffic has been re-routed from Walworth Avenue, which is Highway 11 as it goes through downtown, onto Washington and McDowell streets.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

Newsradio 620 WTMJ is reporting that WE Energies spokesman Brian Manthey says that a car struck a gas meter in that area.
