Eight people in custody in Janesville heroin investigation
JANESVILLE Eight people are in custody and nine children are in the care of social workers after Janesville police early Friday executed three search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation of heroin sales.
Police executed three search warrants at 6 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
They seized two cars and a number of firearms, according to the release. They referred nine children to Rock County Child Protective Services, according to the release.
The department is working to identify additional suspects. The investigation unearthed information that could lead to criminal investigations by other police departments, according to the news release. For that reason, the police department did not release the names of the people arrested or the charges on which they were arrested, Deputy Chief Danny Davis said.
The people arrested Friday are scheduled to appear in court Monday.
