Parker, Craig gymnasts lose Big Eight meets

Janesville Parker's gymnastics team posted its highest score of the season Thursday but came up short in a Big Eight Conference dual meet against Madison West.

The visiting Regents finished a score of 129.950, while Parker had 129.325.

Hailey Leisten won three events and the all-around for Parker, and teammate Brecklyn Skaleski tied Leisten for first on vault.

"It was a true team effort for us tonight," Parker coach Cathy Lehmann said. "We're finally getting healthy and it's showing in our team score."

Parker competes against crosstown rival Janesville Craig next Thursday in the Cougar gym.

Craig was led by Ashley McGoey, who was second on balance beam.

"Ashley had a beautiful beam routine, and Gabrielle (Geller) performed well on bars, too," Craig coach Jean Welch said.

"As a team, we had a pretty good meet. The girls are starting to pull it together and adding more difficulty to their routines."
