Jets collect holiday sweep

— The visiting Janesville Jets earned a holiday sweep, defeating Port Huron, 4-3 and 3-0, Monday and Tuesday in North American Hockey League play.

Jets' goalkeeper Brock Kautz made 41 saves in Monday's opener and 22 saves to post a shutout in the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day victories.

With the two victories, Janesville moves above .500 to 15-14-6. Port Huron is 16-17-2.

The Jets scored four of their seven overall goals on power plays. Daniel Kucerovy scored the winning goal Monday on a second-period power play that gave the Jets a 4-2 lead.

Port Huron scored a power- play goal at the end of the second period and trailed, 4-3, going into the third.

On Tuesday, Alec Vanko and Ruslan Pedan each scored on power plays, while Mike Sullivan scored an even- strength goal in the first to give Janesville a 2-0 lead.

Janesville hosts Jamestown at 7 p.m. this Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
