— The titles are close enough to confuse some people, but the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff’s Association isn’t the same as the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The former organization wants to make that perfectly clear as it starts its annual telemarketing fundraising campaign, according to a release from its office.

The Walworth County Deputy Sheriff’s Association raises money each year during the fundraiser to help charities, including the Holiday Toys for Kids program, School Back Pack Program, COPS Kids camp, an annual Scholarship Award Program, donations to local schools and other community causes.

According to the release, each year the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office receives calls from members of the public in which they feel they were misled. The association would like to be clear that the donation you are making is going to the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and is not a donation to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

In an effort to clarify this activity, the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff’s Association would also like to make it clear that when you receive a fundraising call you are speaking with a representative of the Professional Marketing, Inc., not a deputy sheriff.
