"Our Voices, Our Town," the theme for southeastern Wisconsin's 2013 Big Read project, reflects the work of legendary author and playwright Thornton Wilder, a Madison native.

Each year the Big Read, a National Endowment for the Arts funded program, features an American author.

In Walworth County, communities are responding with a number of related events.

Local artists from the Geneva Lake Art Association invite the public to their spring exhibit, “Our Town,” which opened earlier this month.

The exhibit highlights “our towns” everywhere, complete with picket fences, a unique clothesline exhibit of unframed works of art and the nostalgia of the past.

The GLAA gallery is located in the North Shore Pavilion at 647 W. Main St., Lake Geneva (interior of the Subway mall).

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Theatre/Dance Department will present "Our Town" April 21 and 22, starring actor John McGivern in the role of Stage Manager. For more information on the Big Read, check the Young Auditorium's blog at ourvoicesourtown.com.
