— Due to an increase in applications, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is closing admissions for new freshmen on April 1, a month earlier than planned, according to a university news release.

“Interest in UW-Whitewater is really high,” said Jeff Blahnik, director of admissions. “The number of new freshman applications is up more than five percent this year. Students and their families see UW-Whitewater as a high-quality and affordable place to earn a university degree.”

Prospective students interested in applying must have all application materials –- including high school transcripts and ACT scores –- postmarked by April 1.

The April 1 closing date is only for new freshmen. Transfer student applications will be accepted until July 1.
