— Millie's restaurant, a longtime dining destination on the south shore of Delavan Lake, announced on its Facebook page that it would be closing.

The statement, posted Tuesday, read:

"We have recently been forced to make the sad and difficult decision to close Millie's. We will miss the many friends we have made over the past 48 years. Thank you all for letting us be a part of your lives."

The announcement was followed by dozens of comments from customers over the years sharing anecdotes about their trips to the restaurant.

The restaurant and shopping village, located at the intersection of County Highway O and South Shore Drive, has been serving customers since 1964.

I for one will miss Millie's Restaurant. Although I haven't been there is years, when I was young it was a place for our family to go for special occasions. It was always busy and always good! Wish I would have stopped in before it closed. I always intended to. Bye Millies's

It's about time they closed. They served tiny little portions.

How sad! Millie's was such a popular spot for special occasions and a great tasty, leisurely breakfast.
