Whitewater musician Peterson remembered for music, compassion

WHITEWATER—Local singer/songwriter and guitarist Patrick “Pat” J. Peterson died Feb. 7.

Visitation is scheduled Sat., Feb. 23, from 10 a.m.to noon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1225 W. Main St, Whitewater. A short service will follow starting at noon. A Life Celebration Party will be held after the services at 2 p.m. at Salamone’s, 1245 Madison Ave, Fort Atkinson.

Peterson was diagnosed in 2009 with a brain tumor.

Through his career, he worked with both local and nationally known acts, including Candlebox, Hoobastank, the Doobie Brothers, Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root, The Big Wu, Particle, and others.

His own bands included Savage Myth, The Pipe Circus, Sector 3, Avengers Assemble and Ruthless Acoustics. Peterson was a frequent act at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, and recorded eight albums.

Peterson was also involved in the greater community. According to a news release from Innabeat Music Productions, Peterson, his wife and colleagues worked together, reaching over 100 charitable organizations—from Children’s Hospital to Relay for Life—and raised over $75,000 for people in need. In addition to musical endeavors, Pat worked for 14 years at Homes for Independent Living coaching, caring for and managing traumataic brain injury victims.

Survivors include Peterson’s wife, Ruth, and daughter, Jazmine; his parents, Carl and Joanne; sister, Michelle Pitt; and other friends and fellow musicians.
