JPAC to allow beverages in theater
JANESVILLE The Janesville Performing Arts Center will immediately start allowing both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages in the theater during performances.
But the only beverages allowed in the theater are those bought from the JPAC bar in the lobby before a show or during intermission.
Patrons wishing to take beverages inside the theater must buy a $2 JPAC plastic reusable beverage container, which has a swivel lid to prevent spills. It can be brought back to future JPAC performances.
"JPAC wants to give our patrons the ability to be comfortable in the theater, as if they were in their own home," said Elizabeth Horvath, executive director, in a news release.
"Other neighboring performing arts facilities, such as the Overture Center (Madison) and the Irving Young Auditorium (Whitewater), allow the perk of beverages in the theater, and JPAC should offer the same accommodations," she said.
JPAC had received many requests for this policy change, Horvath said.
