Updating your kitchen with new countertops, cupboards, flooring and adding stainless steel appliances will attract more buyers if you're trying to sell, and add more enjoyment to living in your home if you're staying in place. File photo.

Lakeland Builders Association has added more features to its annual home show, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16-17.

This is the fourth year the Lake Geneva Home Improvement Expo will be held at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. This year’s expo features a wide range of exhibitors, from flooring to kitchen cabinets specialists, general contractors and remodelers to audio video installers. If you’re even thinking about hiring a building professional this year, this is the place to start. The expo is a chance to see what each contractor has to offer.

Whether you’re considering any remodeling or building project, or just want to dream a little, be sure to check out the informative seminars sponsored by the LBA members. The seminars are free with your paid admittance to the expo. The seminars will help you plan for your project. Not sure where to start? Get an overview of what to expect and find out how universal building practices will enhance your project now and down the road.

With every paid admission (for those 18 years and older) you will receive one free raffle ticket. The raffle prizes include spa packages, golf packages, wine basket, sports jerseys and other items. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 each or three for $5. You do not need to be present to win.

Green Bay Packers greats LeRoy Butler, Fuzzy Thurston, Paul Hornung and Jerry Kramer are featured guests at the expo. Butler and Thurston will be available from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday for autographs and photos. Hornung and Kramer will be at the expo from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday for autographs and photos. For every autograph purchased, you will get a raffle ticket, which is your chance to win a personally autographed Paul Hornung canvas. The winner will be announced at 2 p.m. on Sunday and you must be present to win.

Additional sports memorabilia will be available through a silent auction both Saturday and Sunday. Get there early and place your bid.

While you’re at the expo, be sure to check out the Student Woodworking Competition, with entries from students of Badger High School. LBA members will judge all entries and award cash prizes to the best constructed projects. Some of these items will be available to purchase through a silent auction.

A Taste of the Lakes is available both days of the expo, featuring Brown’s BBQ of Delavan, Hawk’s View of Lake Geneva, Hometown Sausage of East Troy and Brick Street Market of Delavan.

Be sure to bring your little builders to this year’s expo — LBA members have created a series of Little Builder Association workshops just for them. And they’re free. Build a wood project to take home, have a go at brick laying, mess around in the dirt and help create a colorful paint project.
