East Troy girls recover

For one of the few times this season, East Troy's girls basketball team had to play from behind Tuesday night.

The state's third-ranked Division 3 team trailed by five against Clinton after the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Cougars, it was all Trojans after that. East Troy exploded for 51 points in the second half in pulling away for an 81-59 Rock Valley Conference crossover win.

Breanna Gaspervich had a game-high 27 points for East Troy (17-0, 12-0), while teammate Rachel Atchison added 24, including six three-point baskets.

Megan Lantz led Clinton with 21 points.

-- Brodhead 63, Evansville 29—Taylor Douglas paved the way with a dozen points, and Carly Mohns and Rachel Heller each scored in double figures as the unbeaten Cardinals raced out to an early lead and never looked back in a Rock Valley crossover game.

Blue Devils guard Brielle Greenleaf led all scorers with 13 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc.

The No. 2-ranked Cardinals improved to 17-0 overall and are 12-0 in the South. Evansville is 6-12 overall and 5-8 in the North.

-- Whitewater 62, Parkview 21—The host Whippets limited the Vikings to single digits in every quarter in cruising to the Rock Valley crossover win.

Junior Brooke Trewyn had a game-high 21 points for Whitewater, including five three-pointers. Sarah Schumacher added 10 for the Whippets.

-- Edgerton 59, Turner 37—Megan Johnson scored nine of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter to spark the Crimson Tide to a 24-16 lead.

The Tide led, 32-24 at the half and gained a 12-3 advantage in the third quarter to take a 45-27 lead into the final quarter.

Whitney Oren added 18 points for Edgerton. Lindsey Lauterbach scored 11 points for Turner.
