Whitewater selects new city manager
WHITEWATER The Whitewater City Council has selected Cameron L. Clapper to serve as city manager.
The unanimous choice was made Saturday after interviewing five candidates for the post, according to a news release from the city.
Clapper has served as interim city manager since the departure of former City Manager Kevin Brunner.
Brunner left to become director of public services in Walworth County.
The decision comes after two days of interviews, tours, a reception and public forum.
The other candidates included village administrators/clerks and a city manager.
Clapper started work with the city in April 2010 as assistant city manager. He previously worked as assistant to the administrator in the village of Waunakee.
Clapper has a master’s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also has a bachelor’s degree in international studies.
The council is working on an employment agreement and will vote on that agreement at its Oct. 2 meeting.
“The Common Council is very pleased to have Cameron Clapper as its next city manager,” Council President Patrick Singer said in the release. “Cameron has proved himself to be a hard-working and dedicated individual who will lead Whitewater in the right direction.”
Clapper and his family live in Whitewater.
