ELKHORN--Three junior dairy exhibitors were each awarded the Miss Q title on Friday, August 31, at the Walworth County Fair. The award recognizes quality milk production and rewards youth for their hard work and exceptional dairy practices. The Miss Q Contest is sponsored by AgSource Cooperative Services. Katie Greidanus, Delavan; Shelbie Greidanus, Delavan; and Steven Fincutter, Elkhorn, each earned the Miss Q distinction and were given the opportunity to sell one gallon of milk at the Miss Q Auction, held during the fair.

Proceeds from the auction were awarded to the winning youth exhibitors to assist with further development of their dairy projects or finance their post secondary educations.

Katie Greidanus, a member of the Harvester 4-H Club and daughter of Vonda and Randy Greidanus, captured the first lactation award. Her quality milk pitcher sold for $650. Marty & Nancy Vanderstappen of Vanderstappen Farms in Lake Geneva were the successful bidders.

Katie's sister, Shelbie Greidanus earned the second lactation award. Steve Jacques, representing S&B Grain Farms of Elkhorn, purchased her gallon of milk for $875. Shelbie is also a member of the Harvester 4-H Club.

Third lactation winner was Steven Fincutter, son of Tony and Diane Fincutter and member of the Elkhorn Future Farmers of America. His gallon of quality milk was purchased for $500 by Marcus and Blake Scharine, from the Scharine Group of Whitewater.

Complete Feed Service of Sharon donated $100, in addition to their auction proceeds, to each AgSource Miss Q Lactation Winner.
