— Authorities in the lakeshore village of Pleasant Prairie in Kenosha County say there are no reports of widespread flooding caused by the effects of superstorm Sandy.

Village officials had cautioned several hundred residents in low-lying areas that they may have to voluntarily evacuate their homes if the waves from Lake Michigan caused flooding.

The National Weather Service was predicting waves of 14 to 18 feet along the Lake Michigan shoreline through Tuesday night. But village administrator Mike Pollocoff says waves at Pleasant Prairie reached only 10 feet.

Pollocoff says the village issued nearly 4,000 sandbags but there only was some yard flooding. He says five people had signed up for possible evacuation, but no one had to be evacuated.

The village near the Illinois border has about 20,000 residents.
