Help food pantry, get free admission to Old World Wisconsin
EAGLE Old World Wisconsin will host a food drive on Sun., Oct. 28, offering free museum admission to each person who donates for our more non-perishable food items. All donations will go to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.
Dan Freas, the museum’s director, said the event is a way for Old World Wisconsin to give back to the community at the end of the regular daily operating season, and a connection the museum’s focus on rural immigrant life.
“Autumn is a time to bring in the harvest. Wisconsin’s original settlers would have been stocking up for the coming winter,” Freas said. “In that spirit, we are hoping that our communities will help us to fill the shelves of those in need. This is the first time we’re offering this program, and our hope is that its success will help us to make it an annual event.”
The Food Pantry of Waukesha County serves up to 100 households each day, distributing almost 2,500 cans, boxes, and units of food. Freas hopes that visitors will donate at least enough to supply one day’s needs for the organization.
The museum will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Old World Wisconsin is located at W372 S9727 Wisconsin Highway 67 in Eagle.
