Whitewater's Steve Meisner, already inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame in 2005, will be inducted into the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame in Cleveland Nov. 24. File photo.
Next month, Steve Meisner will receive a lifetime achievement award for his polka music.
That might seem premature for Meisner, 51, but it’s all too true. He’s been playing an accordion for 46 of those 51 years.
A Wisconsin State Journal story noted Meiser will get that award Nov. 24 when he’s also inducted into the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. His late father, Verne Meisner, was also inducted into Cleveland's Polka Hall of Fame.
Steve Meisner has already been inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame, has released 21 albums, and his performance venues have even included the Kennedy Center.
Much of his music has been recorded in a home studio in Whitewater. But album 22, to be released shortly, is country and blues—not polka.
