— The floor of Bill Gage’s new restaurant comes from a guest house on the mansion of gum magnate William Wrigley of Lake Geneva. Pier 290 Restaurant’s front doors are from one of the first mansions build on Geneva Lake. The nautical history makes sense for Gage, owner of Gage Marine and the Lake Geneva Cruise Line—which dates back to 1873.

Gage and his restaurant are featured in a story in WisBusiness.comthis month.

Pier 290 Restaurant, located at 1 Leichty Drive, Williams Bay, opened in July. Its menu, which includes organic and locally sourced foods, was designed by Patrick Hurd, who operates the Rainbow Ranch Lodge on the Gallatin River in Montana.

The restaurant, which features outside fire pits, an outdoor bar and heat lamps, will operate year-round.

Gage also has a Wooden Boat Center where visitors can observe boats being restored.

My daughter and family ate there in August and raved about it, thought it was great.

We have eaten there twice. I found it to be somewhat of a disaster both times. The lights flickered constantly in the dining room and the food was mediocre at best for the price. We waited a long time for our food and drinks. I may try it again in the future just to see if anything changed as it is really nice and has a great view.
