— The Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce will host its seventh annual Oktoberfest celebration Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities will take place on the square downtown, in Veterans Park and Pocket Park.

Craft and vendor booths will fill the downtown, so you can shop for fall decor and get a start on your holiday shopping.

A chili cook-off will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded and the winners announced around 2 p.m. Bring your family and sample the chili.

If the chili is too hot to handle, check out the beer and wine tasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Pocket Park. It’s for adults only of course — try some Vampire wine or a good German beer. Commemorative Elkhorn Oktoberfest glass included when you buy six tasting tickets.

Car enthusiasts may bring their show cars to the Veterans Park north parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dash plaques will be award to the first 75 cars. A People’s choice contest will be held. The entry fee is five nonperishable food items or $5 for the Elkhorn Food Pantry.

Main stage lineup includes three great bands. Most Wanted plays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Superfly will rock the house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Kings Highway Blues entertains from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A kids costume parade will be held at 3 p.m. Wear your costume to Oktoberfest, parade around and get a treat bag.

There’s plenty of fun in store for kids including a hay bale maze, bounce house and slide and pumpkin decorating and more. Have a blast checking out fire and rescue vehicles, the Peace Keeper S.W.A.T. vehicle, and the smoke house.
